Women’s Collective weaves all island connections

Congratulations to Common Charter supporter Women’s Collective Ireland which has been running the WCI Community Grassroots Weaving All Island Connections project in partnership with NIRWN and Shankhill Women’s Network. The project aimed to engage, connect and create opportunities for grassroots women from diverse communities across the island to come together to share skills, life experiences, challenge their perceptions of each other and increase their knowledge and mutual understanding.

This is a great reminder of some of the principles the New Common Charter pledges supporter organisations to work towards:

  • Improving women’s representation in decision-making structures
  • Promoting a civil society that values diversity and in which there is the ability to disagree respectfully
  • Facilitating the exploration and celebration of a community’s culture and heritage with a view to future cooperation

Border People sharing knowledge – Cross border implications of Working from Home

In recent times working from home and flexible working patterns have become commonplace but unfortunately they can create complications for cross-border workers and their employers. This seminar from New Common Charter supporter Border People started a fantastic conversation about the technical challenges encountered and the policy changes required to enable cross-border workers, potential workers, and employers to more fully embrace opportunities across the border.

The Common Charter pledges supporter organisations to work towards:

  • Improving policy-making by matching it to the realities on the ground
  • Increasing opportunities for the sharing between people and communities of information, knowledge of policy and best-practice within and across these islands
