The Centre for Cross Border Studies (CCBS) launched the 2018 edition of its Journal of Cross Border Studies in Ireland on Wednesday 12 December in the Moot Court, QUB School of Law, Belfast.

Chair of the CCBS Board Dr Helen Johnston opened the event before guest speaker Les Allamby, Chief Commissioner, Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission gave his lecture “Human Rights, Equality and Citizen’s Rights: the Potential Impact of Leaving the European Union .

Les discussed the potential ramifications of Brexit on rights issues including the loss of the EU Fundamental Charter of Rights, Citizens’ rights, the protection of existing rights and the development of future rights and the role played by the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement. The floor was then opened up to a Q&A session which involved great interaction between those in attendance. CCBS Director Ruth Taillon brought an end to the event.
