Irish Rural Link host beyond NEET project seminar

On 10th July, New Common Charter supporter Irish Rural Link hosted a seminar entitled ‘Youth and Student Volunteerism for Charities and Social Enterprises’ as part of the Beyond NEET project, working with young people who are Not in Employment, Education and Training (NEET). The project aims to open opportunities for young people to be able to be professionally integrated, initially in volunteer programs and, later, in civil society organisations that associate with this initiative. The Common Charter encourages such development of community leadership and advocates for the improvement of the value given to vocational and non-university paths to careers.
Human Rights Consortium seminar on Illegal Migration Bill

To round off a week of events held across civil society for Refugee Week 2023, New Common Charter supporter the Human Rights Consortium NI held an event on the UK Government’s Illegal Migration Bill. The discussion was a great example of the Charter’s principle of engaging with and supporting human rights, particularly for the most isolated and marginalised in our communities and its commitment to oppose the diminution of existing rights across all communities and groups. The HRC event examined the Bill’s contents, its implications for the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and the Windsor Framework, impacts on the land border and changes it would make for those seeking asylum. A recording of the session can be watched here.
