Members of the Transfrontier Euro-Institut Network (TEIN) met online today to discuss their activities concerning the training of civil servants and elected representatives in cross-border matters.

Anthony Soares presented the Centre’s upcoming S2@25 training programme on cross-border collaboration.

The programme is aimed at implementation bodies, officials in government departments and public bodies in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Iban Larrandaburu, from Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, spoke about the Euro-Institut Pyrene’s aim of training civil servants and elected representatives on the potential of cross-border cooperation in the Basque Country.

The Euro-Institut presented its new Interreg project, “Grenzcap”, which focuses on training decision-makers in cross-border issues and developing a cross-border approach in the administrations of the Upper Rhine region.

Although local realities vary significantly from one border to another, a number of shared challenges emerged from the discussions: identifying the right target audience, finding the right format for an audience short on time, overcoming the language barrier, ensuring training is accredited for professional development, and determining the duration of the training programme.
