Day 2 at SCoTENS

The second day of the SCoTENS annual conference started with paper presentations by Doctoral students.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr Thomas Walsh, Associate Professor in the Department of Education, Maynooth University. He spoke on “Teaching through time: Navigating shifting policies, practices and purposes.”
The panel discussion was chaired by Prof Noel Purdy OBE, Director of Research and Scholarship and Director of the Centre for Research in Educational Underachievement (CREU) at Stranmillis University College, Belfast. The speakers were Dr Ciara O’Donnell (Educational Consultant and Researcher, Maynooth University), Dr Derek Grant (Director, Curriculum and Assessment, NCCA), Patrick Hickey (AI Educator/Teacher, Cork), Dr Geraldine Parks (St Mary’s University College, Belfast), Prof Barbara Skinner (Ulster University) and Sammy Taggart (Course Director: PGCE Technology & Design, Ulster University).
One of SCoTENS’ co-founders, Harry McMahon, presented the inaugural award that takes his name to Clare Hogan, of Dublin City University, for her proposal to the Annual Doctoral Roundtable.
The conference was closed by Dr Julie Uí Choistealbha, SCoTENS Co-chair.
