InterTradeIreland convened a meeting today with Peter Burke TD (Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment), Dr Caoimhe Archibald MLA (Minister for the Economy), Chartered Accountants Ireland and authors of research into ‘the current conditions of the island of Ireland labour market’.
Colin McCabrey (Director of Trade at InterTradeIreland) outlined how the organisation is convening cross-border conversations between businesses and trade stakeholders to ensure that businesses can effectively navigate trade matters, a key aspect of which is cross-border labour mobility.
The partnership including Annmarie O’Kane (Border People Project Manager at the Centre for Cross Border Co-operation), Maureen O’Reilly (Independent Economist), Rose Tierney (Independent Taxation Consultant at Tierney Tax Consulting Limited) and Gearóid O’Sullivan (Head of Tax at Chartered Accountants Ireland) will be working collectively to support employers and workers to ensure that the availability of skills and labour is maximised throughout the island.
Today’s meeting took place alongside a breakfast networking event hosted by InterTradeIreland to launch a two-day cross-border trade mission to Dublin with 19 food and drink businesses, as part of the ‘Trade Missions @ Home’ initiative.
