CCBS discusses Brexit with young people

CCBS Acting Director, Anthony Soares, and our Border People Project Manager, Annmarie O’Kane, took part in an event on the 10th of April, in Dungannon, organised by the YouthPact Programme, which brought together a range of young people’s groups from Northern Ireland and Ireland to discuss Brexit. With over 40 young people attending as part of the Young Voices project under the PEACE IV-funded YouthPact Programme, Anthony and Annmarie presented some of the main potential implications of Brexit for young people and their families, as well as explaining some of the core terms used in the current Brexit debates. The presentations were followed by lively roundtable discussions between the young people present, who then fed back their views and had the opportunity to ask further questions. It was obvious that young people have serious concerns as to how Brexit may impact on their futures, and are looking for certainty on a number of issues, such as the continuation of Erasmus+ and the recognition of qualifications.
