The Centre for Crossborder Studies Publishes an Update of its Briefing Paper on ‘Brexit and Economic Development’

Posted On: 09 Aug 2017

In the run-up to the United Kingdom’s referendum on membership of the European Union in June 2016, the Centre for Cross Border Studies (CCBS) and Co-operation Ireland published a series of five briefing papers. These papers aimed to inform debate by exploring the potential impacts of an eventual Brexit on Northern Ireland and North-South relations. The present publication is an update of the fifth and last paper in the series, originally published in June 2016, in which we considered the question of Brexit and economic development. Its purpose is two-fold: to update the statistical information included and analysed in the original Briefing Paper, and to consider the UK Government’s approach to trade in the recently commenced Brexit negotiations.
