22-25 March 2010

The fourth workshop and summer school of the Irish-African Partnership for Research Capacity Building (IAP for short) – which brings together the nine universities on the island of Ireland with universities in Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda, and of which the Centre is a founding partner – took place in Chancellor College, Zomba, a constituent college of the University of Malawi, on 22-25 March. It brought together over 70 academics and university administrators from the partner universities to work together on six training modules to enhance the capacity of research offices, research team leaders and other interested academics and administrators in the following areas:  research bid writing, research funding, research training, research management, research infrastructure and ICT, and human resources. Previous workshops under this programme, which is funded by Irish Aid with some matching support from Universities Ireland, have been held in Dublin, Entebbe (Uganda) and Maputo (Mozambique).  The final workshop and closing conference will be held in Queen’s University Belfast on 29 September-1 October 2010.
