The Executive Summary of the “Collaborating for Common Success” report looks at how the UK’s departure from the European Union may impact on areas of competence devolved to Northern Ireland and on the effective operation of Strand 2 of the Good Friday Agreement, and how the implementation bodies and areas of North-South cooperation may be affected by a shift towards UK-wide policy frameworks. The report is the product of a project generously supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Reconciliation Fund, and undertaken between July 2019 and July 2020. The report was also informed by the views of senior policy-makers (currently active and retired), North-South cooperation actors, business representatives and civic society organisations. Interviews carried out between September 2019 and March 2020 sought to capture how they thought North-South cooperation needed to be shaped in order to properly address the challenges and capture the opportunities over the next twenty years.
