Holywell Trust, Bishop Street, Derry
Come and find out about the ‘Towards a New Common Chapter’ project.
This action research project, which has been undertaken by the Centre for Cross Border Studies, is funded by the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust. It is intended to facilitate the development of a “New Common Chapter” representing grass-roots support for collaborative and sustainable North-South and East-West relations. The Centre for Cross Border Studies has been working with community organisations from both sides of the border – involving in particular, the active participation of women, young people and Protestant community organisations – to produce a New Common Chapter that voices the needs of civil society. This work will result in informed and motivated community organisations on the island of Ireland able to engage with policies and policy-makers on the value of cross-border cooperation and ensuring that it addresses the needs of civic society.
The project is now in its third stage, with the participating groups having agreed a draft “New Common Chapter for cooperation within and between these islands” at the end of the second stage. During this event Dr Antony Soares, Deputy Director, Centre for Cross Border Studies, along with representatives from some of the participating groups, will explain how the project has progressed and invite your feedback on the document as well as providing the opportunity to network on a cross border basis. There will also be an input from Rachael Craig Derry City and Strabane District Council on their Community Plan and Carnegie application.
Don’t miss your chance to have a say.
