The Potential Implications of Brexit for Cross-Border Bodies

CCBS provided a policy seminar on “The Potential Implications of Brexit for Cross-Border Bodies”, held in Dublin on 28 April 2016. Gathering members of the Advisory Board of SafeFood, as well as stakeholders of cross-border implementation bodies, the seminar examined the extent to which policy and regulatory divergence between the two jurisdictions on the island of Ireland as a result of the UK’s possible departure from the EU could affect the operational effectiveness of cross-border or all-island bodies. It also identified ways in which, where relevant, the research capacity of HEIs that informs the work of some of the cross-border bodies may be affected if the UK does not retain access to EU funding for research and innovation.
