The Centre for Cross Border Studies, with the Institute for British-Irish Studies (IBIS) at UCD and the International Centre for Local and Regional Development co-sponsored a lively seminar on Wednesday, 13 June 2012 at Royal Irish Academy, Dublin.
The theme of the meeting was the challenge of cross-border cooperation in health care provision. Chaired by Dr Maurice Hayes, the speakers included Dr Ambrose McLoughlin, Secretary General of the Department of Health; Mr Tom Daly, and Ms Bernie McCrory of Cooperation and Working Together (CAWT), Dr Ronan Foley of NUI Maynooth / ICLRD; and Ms Vanya Sargent of Crowe Horwath.

Vanya Sargent presented the findings of the report, Unlocking the Potential of Cross-Border Hospital Planning on the Island of Ireland: Development of a Prototype Modelling Framework, published in 2011 by the Centre for Cross Border Studies.
