The fourth annual conference of the Standing Conference on Teacher Education North and South (SCoTENS), organised by the Centre, took place at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast under the title Teacher Education and Schools: Together towards Improvement.

The keynote speakers were the Northern Ireland Chief Inspector of Schools, Ms Marion MatchettProfessor Michael Totterdell, Director of the Institute of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University; Professor Gordon Kirk, Academic Secretary of the Universities Council for the Education of Teachers (UCET); and Ms Emer Egan, Assistant Chief Inspector at the Irish Department of Education and Science.

There were  seminars on overcoming obstacles to the use of ICT by teachers; the partnership development to school-based work; partnership in teacher induction; teacher support services; and a new model of continuing professional development.
