SAVE THE DATE – “Skilling up for a regionally balanced economy: Challenges and opportunities for border counties”

Policy Seminar – 6th May 2020

The Centre for Cross Border Studies, in collaboration with InterTradeIreland, is organising a Policy Seminar focusing on current provision of skills and the needs of employers, with a particular focus on provision in border counties and the requirements of businesses trading cross-border. It is proposed the seminar, of approximately two hours’ duration, take place on 6th May in Stormont.**

Bringing together a number of relevant experts, this seminar will begin by setting the scene in the border region, looking at a number of core indicators, such as current educational provision, levels of qualifications, employment rates, earnings and disposable income.

This will be followed by a presentation highlighting the needs of cross-border employers including current and future skills shortages. The seminar will also consider local responses to OECD skills consultations, and explore examples of best practice in terms of North-South cooperation in the provision of skills.

** While the policy seminar is due to take place in Stormont, provisions have been made for the online delivery of the seminar via Zoom.
