New Common Charter goes to Edinburgh

On the 24th of September representatives from the Scottish Parliament, Scottish Government and Scottish third sector organisations (including the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations) gathered in Edinburgh to hear about the New Common Charter for Cooperation Within and Between these Islands. A lengthy and productive discussion on how to further the New Common Charter, and on the need to ensure the necessary structures are present to allow for cooperation across these islands between community organisations, followed a presentation by CCBS Acting Director, Anthony Soares, Deputy CEO of Longford Women’s Link, Tara Farrell, and Eilidh Dickson, Policy and Parliamentary Manager at Engender. Their presentation set out the development of the New Common Charter as part of the Towards a New Common Chapter project, funded by Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust, the Community Relations Council, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Reconciliation Fund.
