In 2000 University for Industry commissioned the Centre to undertake a study to examine the feasability and appropriateness of UfI developing its learndirect initiative in the Republic of Ireland, and how its operation in Northern Ireland might impact on the Republic.

This study, carried out by Paul McGill and Mark Morgan, found a positive attitude to UfI/learndirect in the South, with greater enthusiasm for the learndirect model (data base, helpline, learning centres and support services) than for its actual courses.

The final report was confidential.
