CCBS Director addresses Brussels Open Days

On 6 October CCBS Director Andy Pollak addressed the Open Days workshop on ‘Local Cross-border Territories at the service of Citizens’ in the European Commission in Brussels. He was part of the EUROMOT (European network of cross-border local authorities) delegation coordinated by the French government’s Mission Opérationelle Transfrontalière (MOT) cross-border cooperation agency. The other speakers were Mr José Palma-Andres, Director of Territorial Cooperation of DG Regio in the European Commission; Dr Hans-Günter Clev, Director of MOT; Mr Peter Udvardi, Director of the EGTC Ister-Granum on the Hungarian-Slovakian border; and Mr Klaus Baldauf, in charge of international affairs in the city of Frankfurt/Oder (German-Polish border).

Andy spoke about the work Cooperation and Working Together (CAWT) is doing in health, and the work the Centre for Cross Border Studies and the International Centre for Local and Regional Development (ICLRD) are doing in training, planning and citizens information in the Irish border region.
