Book of essays from North/South Public Sector Training Programme launched
Posted On: 25 Oct 2007
The Wind Across the Border, a book of essays from the North/South and Cross-Border Public Sector Training Programme, was launched at a dinner in Dundalk on 25 October by the Chairman of the Centre for Cross Border Studies and Pro-Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast, Dr Chris Gibson. The six award-winning essays were written jointly by pairings of public servants – one the North and one from the South – who had participated in the first four training courses under this EU-funded programme (January 2005-June 2007). They were based on joint cross-border research carried out by the officials as part of their training course. The topics covered the Ulster Canal; an all-island service for the recycling of waste fridges and freezers; a renal information system for the island; an all-Ireland visitor pass for heritage sites; a cross-border accreditation system for installers of renewable energy technologies; and the cross-border sharing of electronic patient records.
